What are polynucleotides?
This is an injectable treatment, a bit like Profhilo in some sense. The justification for the shocking caption is because polynucleotides are derived from – wait for it - salmon/trout sperm!
So, what’s with the fish sperm?
It’s not literal salmon sperm that’s injected (thankfully). Polynucleotides utilise ultra-purified and sterilised natural DNA fractions. As it turns out, salmon DNA has strong compatibility with humans. It works by stimulating all layers of the skin, increasing both the production of collagen and elastin for improved skin elasticity and tightness, fewer lines and long-term hydration. It also reduces inflammation, reduces pigmentation in the skin, reduces scarring, increases hair growth…. to name some benefits.
Classed as a ‘super bio-stimulator’, polynucleotides work as a nourishing medicine for skin cells and offers unrivalled benefits with quickly visible results.

How it works
Once inside our skin, the natural DNA fractions mirror human DNA and get to work on boosting collagen and elastin, upping hydration and thickening the epidermis naturally . This is because we inject the DNA fragments just under the skin where the cells that make your collagen and elastin, (fibroblasts) live. The skin benefits are thanks to stimulating your body’s fibroblast production.
Furthermore, polynucleotides are antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties to lower skin inflammation. They also inhibit and break down pigmentation in the skin. Put simply, this means results have been great with patients with rosacea, acne, pigmentation, uneven skin tone as well as skin laxity.

How long has this been around?
Well polynucleotides aren’t a new discovery, so this isn’t quack medicine. Before entering the aesthetics arena, they had a long medical track record of very successfully treating issues like knee osteoarthritis and chronic wounds. In fact, the company who Visage Medical buys its medical products from, have a separate sister company who specialise purely in orthopaedic applications of polynucleotides.

What can polynucleotides treat?
They can treat areas that are usually tricky-
Notably forehead
Around the eyes (including lids!!)
Whole face
Décolleté
Hands
Neck
Reduction of scarring eg. Acne scarring
Essentially anywhere where there is skin, we can treat- so wrinkly knees with depleted elasticity? Here we come!
Brilliantly, treatments directly into scar tissue great improves the appearance of scars.
The anti-inflammatory so great with sensitive skins and rosacea patients.
These treatments both have a preventative and restorative and regenerative role in our skins.
The result- a thicker, healthier skin barrier, firmer more bouncy skin, less redness and less reactivity, less sun and age spots, break down of hyperpigmentation, improvement of scratch marks and scarring as well as more plumped, hydrated less creepy skin! Around the eyes see a signifiant reduction in line and wrinkles which are otherwise very tricky to treat.
